Terms of Service
What you are agreeing to when you use Truewares, and what we are agreeing to in return. Last updated 31 August 2026.
The short version
You are hiring Truewares to copy your Square catalog into the online stores you connect, and to keep it in step. Your catalog stays yours. You pay monthly for as many Square locations as you sync. Either of us can end it at any time.
The rest of this page is the detail: what we do, what we do not do, what you are responsible for, and what happens when something goes wrong. It is worth the five minutes, because it is what you can hold us to.
This agreement
These terms are between you and Truewares, and you accept them by creating an account or using the service. If you are doing that for a business, you are confirming you are allowed to commit that business to them.
Along with the privacy policy, they are the whole of what is agreed between us. Nothing said in an email, on the marketing site, or in a support ticket adds to them unless we both put it in writing.
Your account
- Keep it yours
- Use a real email address, keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think somebody else has got into your account.
- The people you add
- Anyone you add to a shop acts for that shop, and what they do there counts as done by you. Roles are how you decide how far each of them can reach.
- One shop, one owner at least
- A shop always keeps at least one owner, so the account cannot be left with nobody able to administer it.
What Truewares does
It reads the catalog in your Square account for the locations you choose, keeps a mirror of it, and publishes that to the Shopify and Etsy stores you connect. When something changes in Square, the change is carried across. When something sells out, the listing is taken down rather than left selling stock you do not have.
That is the service. It is what we will do our honest best to keep working, and it is what the rest of this page is about.
What Truewares does not do
Worth saying plainly, because assuming any of these is how somebody gets hurt.
- It never writes to Square
- Square is the source of truth. Nothing we do can change a price, an item or a count in the system you run your shop on.
- It never deletes
- An item you remove in Square is marked as gone here and its listing is archived or deactivated, never deleted. That is deliberate: this runs unattended against your live shop, and one bad comparison must not be able to destroy your catalog.
- It is not a backup
- The mirror exists to publish from. Do not rely on it as a copy of your catalog.
- It does not sell for you
- Orders, payments, shipping, returns and tax happen in the storefronts and are between you and them. We never see an order.
- It is not advice
- Nothing here tells you what you may sell, what you must charge, or what tax you owe.
Your catalog stays yours
You own your products, your photos, your descriptions and your data. Nothing on this page changes that.
What you give us is permission to do the job: to copy that material, hold it, and publish it to the stores you connect, for as long as you are connected. That permission is only ever used to run your own sync. It ends when you disconnect the store or delete the shop, and we do not license it to anybody, sell it, or use it to train anything.
What you are responsible for
- What you sell
- That it is legal to sell where you are selling it, and allowed by the rules of the storefront you are selling it on.
- What is in your catalog
- That the photos and descriptions are yours to publish, and that your prices, stock and product details are right. We publish what Square says, so a mistake in Square becomes a mistake in your storefront.
- Each storefront's own rules
- Shopify and Etsy each have their own terms, their own fees and their own policies about what may be listed. Meeting them is yours, not ours.
- Your tax
- Whatever you owe, wherever you owe it, including any tax on your subscription that is not already charged.
Square, Shopify and Etsy are not us
They are separate companies, your accounts with them are yours, and we reach them only with the keys you gave us. Their terms apply to you alongside these.
- They can change
- Any of them can change or withdraw the interface we use, with or without notice. When one does, part of the service can stop working until we catch up. We will say so rather than let it fail quietly.
- They have limits
- Etsy allows a fixed number of requests a day, shared across everyone using Truewares. A large catalog can take more than one day to work through, and a very busy day can slow everyone down.
- Their decisions are theirs
- If one of them suspends your account, removes a listing, or refuses something we send, that is between you and them. We cannot overturn it and we do not control it.
- Their fees are theirs
- What you pay Truewares is separate from what you pay them.
Paying for it
- The trial
- Fourteen days, free. It starts when you turn publishing on and give Stripe a card, not when you sign up, so looking round the product costs nothing and takes as long as you like.
- What it costs
- A monthly price set by how many Square locations you sync. The tiers and their prices are on the billing page inside the app, and that page is the current price rather than anything written here.
- How it is taken
- Monthly in advance, by Stripe, on the card you gave them. Cards never reach us.
- Cancelling
- Any time, from the billing page. You keep what you paid for until the end of the period you paid for, and nothing renews after that.
- Refunds
- We do not refund part of a month. If something on our side went properly wrong, tell us and we will sort it out rather than point at this line.
- Price changes
- We will tell you at least 30 days before a price change touches your subscription, and cancelling before it takes effect is always an option.
A late payment does not cut you off on the day. If a subscription ends up cancelled or unpaid, publishing stops: the mirror keeps reading Square and the app keeps working, and listings already in your storefronts are left exactly as they are rather than taken down.
Using it fairly
The short rule is do not use it against us or against anybody else. Specifically: one subscription covers your own shop, so do not resell it or run somebody else's catalog through it; do not try to break, overload or work around any part of it, including the limits above; do not take it apart to rebuild it; and do not use it for anything illegal.
Availability
We will keep it running as well as we can, and we will tell you when we cannot. What we are not doing yet is promising a percentage. There is no uptime guarantee in this agreement, because a number we cannot yet stand behind would be worth nothing to you.
Occasional maintenance, and the vendor limits described above, are part of normal service rather than a failure of it.
Ending it
- You, at any time
- Cancel the subscription, disconnect the stores, or ask us to delete the shop. Nothing is published after you disconnect, and nothing already published is touched.
- Us, if we have to
- We can suspend or close an account that is not paying, that is being used against these terms, or that we are required to act on. Except where something is seriously wrong or we have no choice, we will warn you first and give you a chance to fix it.
- What happens to your data
- Your listings stay in your storefronts, because they are yours and in your accounts. What we hold is deleted as described in the privacy policy. Ask us before you go if you want a copy.
- What survives
- The sections on your responsibilities, the disclaimer, the limit below, and the law that governs this all outlive the account.
What we do not promise
The service is provided as it is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties about it of any kind, express or implied, and we specifically disclaim the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
In plainer words: we do not promise it will never be down, never be wrong, or never miss something, and we do not promise it will fit a purpose you have in mind that we have not discussed. Software that talks to three other companies' interfaces will sometimes be none of those things. What we do promise is to be honest with you about it and to fix what we can.
The limit on what we owe
If something we did costs you money, what you can recover from us is capped at what you paid us in the twelve months before it happened. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for lost profit or lost sales, or for the cost of putting a catalog back.
This is the ordinary bargain for a subscription at this price, and it is why the product is built the way it is: nothing writes to Square, and nothing is ever deleted. The design is doing more to protect you here than this paragraph is.
Nothing in this section limits anything that cannot lawfully be limited, including our own fraud.
Covering us
If somebody brings a claim against us because of what you sold, what was in your catalog, or your use of the service against these terms, you cover us for it: the claim, the damages, and the reasonable legal costs. We will tell you promptly about any such claim and let you run the defence.
Changes
We will keep changing the product, and some of those changes will change these terms. When a change matters to you we will say so in the app before it takes effect, and the date at the top is always when this page last changed. Carrying on using the service after that is how a change is accepted; if you would rather not, cancelling is always open.
We will not change these terms retroactively to take away something you have already paid for.
Law
This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of laws rules, and the state and federal courts of Delaware are where any dispute about it is heard.
Before it gets that far, please raise a ticket. Almost everything that looks like a dispute is a misunderstanding about what the sync did, and we would far rather explain it than argue about it.
Contact
Raise a ticket from Support inside the app. It reaches us with your shop already attached, which is why it is the route we ask for: an email about a sync we cannot identify takes a round trip before anybody can look at anything.
